FORESTERS RAISE $8,563 FOR RELAY FOR LIFE!! For the second year in a row, the Forester Football team was again the top fundraising group for the colleges annual Relay for Life fundraiser. In the past two years, the Foresters have raised over $19,000 to help fight cancer. The Foresters, who continue to dedicate their RLF efforts to honor the memory of Benny Watters, the local resident who joined the Forester team through the Friends of Jaclyn foundation. Friends of Jaclyn Benny would become a staple around the team, joining them for lunch in the cafeteria, pumpkin carving, game nights, and other activities. Benny lost his battle with cancer on 9/8/10, and in a fitting tribute, a number of parents and friends of the program made donations in the amount of $98.10 in honor of that date. You can see some video footage of Benny interacting with the team here: Benny's Story with LFC Football The annual mini-golf tournament that the Foresters participate in is now called the Benny Watters Memorial Cup, and their is a trophy to honor his memory. Benny Watters Memorial Cup presentation 2011 In the "in-team" competition, Sophomore Offensive Lineman Tommy Mitchell, recorded the top contributions at $1,080, followed by Alec Howe at $735.00. Congratulations to these two winners!!!
