Captain Profile: Anthony Garetto
This past spring, Anthony Garetto '11 and Steven Yena '11, were named as two of the captains for the upcoming season. Today's spotlight shines on Anthony.
Anthony is a three-year starter at inside linebacker going into his senior year. He is a proud alum of Marist High School on the southside of Chicago. Anthony currently has 149 tackles, 13 TFL's, an interception, two forced fumbles, and two sacks. Anthony also had three pass breakups against Lawrence during his sophomore year, two of which were intercepted by teammate Matt Lawler. In addition to his time at linebacker, Anthony has also served as the punter for LFC in his sophomore and junior years. He is currrently ranked 6th all-time in Punts, Punt Yards, and is 7th in career punt yard average. In 2009, Anthony recorded the second most punting yards by a Forester in a season, and tied his high school coach Pat Dunne '02 for the most punts in a single season at 70 which Dunne set during the 2002 conference championship season.

Why you chose LFC: The reason I chose Lake Forest College was the fact of how much it truly offers a student athlete. With not only an excellent education but even more importantly a community of people that fit so well together; it’s simply an amazing experience. The advantage of such a dedicated attitude spread throughout the Lake Forest College academic community is that every single person is focused in and committed to success. The truth is that at Lake Forest College, students not only prosper and grow from such a prestigious education but they also continue to build strong relationships and connections that will benefit for a lifetime.

Best LFC Football Moment: The first game of my freshman year I started and in the first series of the game on third down, I picked off the quarterback, the interception was the most amazing feeling ever, and from then on I knew this was such a great fit for me.

What do you want to do after you graduate?
I really want to focus in on continuing my academic career by going to graduate’s school. I want to be able to combine both what I have gained here at Lake Forest College as well as what I can take from grad school and use it to succeed throughout life.
